Community Guidelines
Small Business Jobs WNY exists to connect good neighbors: local businesses who are hiring, and local people looking for work. To keep this a safe, welcoming, and useful place for everyone in our community, all listings must follow the below guidelines.
We welcome
- Job and project listings from small businesses operating in Western New York.
- Listings that describe the work honestly and accurately.
- Listings that are open and welcoming to all qualified applicants.
To us, a small business has fewer than 20 part-time or full-time employees. Independent craftspeople and service providers are also very welcome to post jobs and projects.
Western New York is loosely defined as Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties, though we welcome users from neighboring counties as long as it's clear that most job posters and job seekers will be located in the counties listed above.
We do not allow
Discriminatory listings
Listings may not exclude, discourage, or express a preference for or against applicants based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or any other characteristic protected under New York State or federal law. This is not only our policy, it's the law. Job postings that violate equal employment opportunity requirements will be removed without a refund.
Hate speech and offensive content
Listings containing hate speech, slurs, offensive language, or rhetoric that demeans or targets any individual or group are strictly prohibited and will be removed without a refund.
Fraudulent or misleading listings
Listings must accurately represent the job or project, the business, the pay or budget, and the working conditions. Bait-and-switch listings, fake opportunities, and listings from businesses that do not exist are not permitted and will be removed without a refund.
Staffing agencies and third-party recruiters
Small Business Jobs WNY is exclusively for small businesses hiring directly. Listings posted by staffing agencies, large corporations, recruiting firms, or third parties hiring on behalf of another business are not permitted and will be removed without a refund.
Inappropriate content and services
Listings for adult entertainment, escort services, or any explicitly sexual content are not permitted and will be removed without a refund.
Illegal listings
Listings that violate any applicable local, state, or federal law are not permitted and will be removed without a refund.
Reporting a listing
If you see a listing that violates these guidelines, please use the 'Report this listing' link on the listing page. We review all reports and take action promptly. You can also reach out directly at hello@smallbusinessjobswny.com.
Enforcement
Listings that violate these guidelines will be removed without refund. Repeat violations may result in account termination. We reserve the right to remove any listing at our discretion.
